Grovin Farms is a division of Grovin which is a multi-farm agribusiness and construction company located in Melrose, Florida (25 minutes east of Gainesville, 30 minutes west of Palatka, 40 minutes southwest of Middleburg). This is a family owned and operated company looking for a Turf Grass Coordinator who can oversee the sod fields. We sell many varieties of sod however at our Melrose/Earleton location we specialize in Bahiagrass and Floratam St. Augustine.
Responsibilities for this position include:
- Ensuring the fields are producing high quality sod, ready to harvest and sell to our residential and commercial customers.
- Optimizing the growing and care of all grass varieties.
- Logistical planning of turf maintenance to include cultivating, seeding/sprigging, fertilizing, spraying mowing and irrigation schedules.
- Working with Farm Manager to order proper fertilizer and chemicals for the fields.
- Keeping an SDS log.
- Regularly inspect fields, treat as needed and implement quality control measures.
Position Requirements:
- Previous experience in turf industry (minimum of one year).
- Bachelor’s degree in Turfgrass Management (required).
- Must be able to be a team player and build positive working relationships with others.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Working knowledge of identifying various threats that may be present in the sod fields.
- Posses problem solving skills and have great attention to detail.
